This registration page is Open to all participants and will close on Oct 25th. It will be held Saturday Nov 7 at 10:30 AM, sign in from 9-10 am. We will email a reminder to you about a week prior to the date. Students from other universities and professional members may register at this time.
The event location is at the Rajveer Banquet Hall, unit 1177 – 3961 52 Ave NE Free parking is available on site.
Please register with an Email address that you check regularly!! After registering you will receive an email from the camp confirming your registration. Please check that your spam filters are set to allow our emails. Please check the FAQ page for answers to all the usual questions.
We will need your ring size! You can have your ring sized on campus in the student services office for the coming ceremony. You can always go to any jewelry shop to get the pinky finger of your working hand sized for a standard North American ring, it will be from 1 to 12, in full and half sizes only. There should be no charge for this.
Graduates from other Canadian universities and APEGA members or any other provincial regulator (EIT, P.Eng.) will be welcome to attend the event, and registration is now open. Sorry, APEGA PL (Eng) members are not eligible. Your application to APEGA does not qualify you, you must have fullfulled all of their criteria and have been accepted, either as a P. Eng or as an EIT. This can take some time, especially if they have assigned any exams to write.
The Ceremony will be in person. We are pleased to be able to conduct the ceremony in person. You must attend to get your ring.
You must attend!!! Everyone who wishes to wear the Iron Ring must attend a Ceremony and undertake the Obligation in the presence of their peers. This is at the core of the tradition of the Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer. If you register but are unable to attend the ceremony for any reason, we will not be able to send your ring. If you cancel prior to the close of registrations we will provide a refund. If you don’t cancel prior to that and you miss the event we are sorry, you will need to register and pay for the next one. We will close the doors at the advertised time and do not allow anyone to enter after the ceremony has begun. Please be aware that you will need to provide identification to sign in.
Guests are allowed. You can invite guests for a nominal charge, they are not required to be engineers. You must book your guest spots when you register because hall space is limited. Be sure to book the number of guest spots you need, the hall has a firecode maximum that we are not allowed to exceed.
Guest Ring Presenters are allowed. You must provide their name when you register. They must be registered as a P. Eng, or be retired, and they count as a guest. Guest presenters Absolutely MUST be wearing their ring that day without exception. They must be registered in advance so that we can validate their status, and they will check in at the registration table on the the day for their ID and instructions.
Can I take pictures during the Ceremony? Yes, But… while we do allow pictures and video, we discourage this during the ceremony. In their excitement, people tend to hold their cameras up, standup, and wander in front of the other guests, which can be very distracting and upsetting during the big event. If you stay seated and respectful of others, we won’t object. But, if you interfere with the view or enjoyment of our other guests who are there for the same reason you are, we will ask you to return to your seat, to lower your camera, or in the extreme case to leave the hall.
Dress Code – Although we don’t have a dress code, almost everybody will dress up in business attire for the event.
Are you eligible? All students graduating with a degree in Engineering from a Canadian University, and practicing engineers accepted for professional membership by APEGA or any other provincial regulator as an EIT or P.Eng, but not PL’s, are eligible to attend the Iron Ring Ceremony.
Other university Students? If you are graduating from a Canadian university other than U of C, we will ask you to upload your diploma or other documentation such as as a transcript to validate your graduation. APEGA members will simply need to supply their APEGA registration number.
We have ring exchange program. If your ring doesn’t fit very well after you receive it you can simply exchange it on the day of the event. Check the Ring Exchange page for the details of how to exchange at any other time. The very best option is to get your finger sized at the student services desk on Campus or at a jewlery shop. We typically hold a ring exchange session on campus about a week after the event.
